A successful Annual Conference
Chief Operating Officer Angela Burrows spoke about the projects we have been running in Peterborough in 2016/17 including our work on the development of a Cancer Wellbeing Service at Peterborough City Hospital’s Robert Horrell Macmillan Centre..
Prisoner engagement work
Guest speaker Gemma Niemero, Clinical Nurse Manager at HMP Peterborough, let people know about the difference she has seen in health and wellbeing in the prison thanks to our award-winning prisoner engagement project, which you can read about by clicking here.
Our Signposting and Information Officer Heather Lord spoke about our soon to be published report on the accessible information standard, which highlighted a need to ensure people know that people with learning and sensory disabilities should be provided with information they can access and understand easily.
Our Communications Officer Samuel Lawrence let people know about our work keeping people engaged with local health and social care developments through our enews, social media and other channels.
Planned merger
Finally, the Chair of Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Val Moore, gave an update on Healthwatch Peterborough’s recent merger with Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and the joint organisation’s plans for the future.
Attendees then had a chance to ask questions, and to visit the stands that some of our stakeholder organisations had set up in the hall.
The conference provided an excellent chance for members of the public and representatives from local health and social care organisations to get to know Healthwatch, and each other, better.
