Our Annual Health and Care Summit set to focus on Health Inequalities
Tackling Health Inequalities Together
The theme of this year’s Summit is “Tackling Health Inequalities Together’ and will include varied and interactive programme, including guest speakers providing national and local perspectives, a Question Time panel of experts, and collaborative workshops.
The aim of the event will be to place a spotlight on the groups of people in society who are most at risk of experiencing health inequalities and how their access to health and care services can be improved.
Our Summit provides a real opportunity for the public and health professionals to come together to address this hugely important issue and seek a way forward.

Breaking down barriers to care
We know that some people can find it harder than most to get the care they need, and that this can lead to some groups of people experiencing health inequalities.
Research shows that demographic factors, such as age, disability, gender identity, ethnicity, refugee status and homelessness can all affect a person’s ability to access healthcare, their life expectancy, and their likelihood of living with significant health issues.
At Healthwatch, we also hear about where people live and lack of access to digital services as being significant barriers to accessing care.
Tackling these health inequalities is one of the top priorities of our local NHS and care services. Our Summit will provide a platform to get your views and experiences across to help them in designing services that work better for everyone.

Guest speakers and Question Time panel
We will be welcoming several guest speakers to our event. These will include people with lived experience and senior figures from the health sector with specific knowledge around the issue of health inequalities.
Among our keynote speakers will be Dr. John Ford, who leads the Health Equity Evidence Centre.
Our Question Time session will allow attendees to put their questions to a panel of experts and hold them to account on the current situation.
Take part in our workshops
During the day, we will run a series of interactive workshops, each focused on a specific demographic group facing health inequalities. These will provide forums to look at issues in detail and consider ways in which inequalities can be tackled.
This event is jointly held by the Adult Social Care Partnership Boards and Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
