Covid-19: county council ups adult social care payments
The increase - which also goes to organisations providing adult social care - recognises the "tremendous efforts and financial pressure that they are facing in the fight against COVID-19."
The extra money will be paid initially until the end of June and then reviewed.
The news has been welcomed by some members of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Partnership Boards, which help people get involved in health and adult social care decision making locally.
"Really good news" said one of the Independent Members on the Older People's Partnership Board.
Another Independent Member, on the Carers' Partnership Board echoed the sentiment, calling it "excellent news".
Graham Lewis, Healthwatch Partnership Development Manager, supports the work of the Partnership Boards and said the increase would be appreciated.
The rise is really important as costs are increasing for essentials such as food items and personal protective equipment. And for some, staff costs could be increasing as staff may be off sick and their shifts are having to be covered.
